Corrals

These corrals are basic constructions for the control of the low cattle.
The corrals are spaces conceived for the cattle use, that's why its plan gives answer to the needs of the shepherd. There used to be a section for the shepherd use, a covered part (corral) and another out in the open.

Sometimes the proprietors of fields near to the huts constructed the corrals; this way, and putting into practice the resources economy characteristic of this society, it was possible to make use of the cattle manure.

There is a wide range of corrals depending on its size and type of plan: of "barrier" if it is uncovered, cave if it is built adjacent to a rocky surface or “paridera” if it has two sections, one under cover and out in the open the other.

Corral in the ravine of San Chils
It is a small corral of rectangular plan with two differentiated areas: one under cover and another one outdoors.

The under cover section is divided in two rooms by means of a wall erected with a vegetable framework, and it is covered with a slope roof that spills to the outdoor section.

The exterior walls are constructed in masonry with sand mortar.
The entry has a small two-pitched roof built with big flagstones, which protects the nailed wooden door.
