Los abrigos de Mallata

The rock shelters of Mallata I and Mallata II are hung on an imposing lime abyss that forms part of Tozal de Mallata, in the junction of the ravines Basender, La Choca and river Vero.

In this area we find more than half of the rock shelters decorated with cave paintings of this Cultural Park, so it is not strange that many investigators consider this area as an outdoors sanctuary to our prehistoric ancestors.

This artistic expression in Mallata is a work from agricultural and stockbreeders peoples of Neolithic and Bronze Age. In high rock shelters, of difficult access, they painted very schematic human and animal figures, as well as signs and enigmatic geometric forms.

It is available a guided visits service.
