Covered and Blacksmith

“El Cubierto” and “La Herrería”
Sheltered by a masonry construction in
limestone and flagstones roof a traditional
smithy survives.

Covered and Blacksmith
In the interior still is possible to see the ancient anvil, the bellows and the forge.
That of blacksmith was one of the many existing jobs in the village. Men came to him to shoe their mounts and to repair the grills of its ploughs.

These frequent works were paid once a year, practice that was known as “conduta”.
Other orders (rails, fences, etc.) had to be paid in the same moment with wheat.

Adjacent to the smithy, and opened to the square, the "Cubierto" (covered) was constructed. It has a two-pitched roof and a stone continuous bench in its interior; in it the Lecina people have debated the matters of the Council for centuries.
